Today marks our four year anniversary with the boys. We arrived at the hotel around noon and frantically paced around our room until we received the phone call saying everyone was there. Around 1:00 on January 17, 2003 we went to the lobby of the Radisson to be joined with Ian and Brennan. What an overwhelming feeling!!! And not overwhelming in a bad way, so many emotions, excitement, and fear all at once. Let's face it, Jesse and I were first time parents of TWO children at once. When we arrived in the lobby, there they were. Ian and Brennan in their fostermothers arms. Ohhh, they were so much cuter than any picture or video that we had ever seen of them......and that's saying a lot since we already thought before we seen them in person, that they were the two most adorable little boys in the world!! Thankfully, my mom and my Grandma went with us. My mom tried to take video, but after about one minute she couldn't take anymore........she had to at least touch them!!! Typical Grandma!!! =) After a few minutes we asked the foster mother's and our Guatemalan facilitator up to our room. Thankfully, the facilitator was able to translate for us. We were able to ask the FosterMother's Ian and Brennan's schedules and visit a bit. They both took such incredible care of our boys that we forever have a place for them in our hearts. About one hour later we were on our own with the boys. After about an hour of playing with the boys and many, many kisses and hugs later we decided that we were hungry. We dressed the boys into their matching Tommy outfits and off we went. They were such little angels!! It was really strange.........we had already somewhat picked up on their personalities just from the videos that we received. Ian was a very alert, active, and happy-go-lucky child. Bren was more on the tired sice of the spectrum. Now everyone that has had children will understand that when I describe Brennan as a crabby, fussy type baby that I mean that with lots of love! Because quite honestly, he was a pretty fussy baby. But God love him, when he was good..........he was really good! =) Anyway, that about sums up our first day with the boys. I just cannot believe that 4 years have passed already. My little babies are now my little helpers. We are going to Chuck-E-Cheese tonight to celebrate. My cousin Trish and her girls are coming to make it extra special!!!
Ian and Brennan, Mommy and Daddy love you with all their hearts. We are so truly blessed that God chose for us to be united as a family. We love you!
